Relentless Running Events goal is to provide the best endurance running events in Western North Carolina. Based out of Old Fort and Black Mountain, RRE strives to give area runners the most unique and memorable races offered.
Relentless Running Events brings to you a festival like endurance event that has runners competing on June 3-4 for 6, 12 and 24 hours through the wooded trails of Montreat College's White Oak Estate nestled in Black Mountain, NC. Enjoy free tent camping during the event and live music Saturday afternoon! Awards for top finishers in each event as well as belt buckles for 100 mile finishers will be presented. Everyone will receive an iconic Black Mountain Monster t-shirt, and other goodies with their registration.
Packet pickup will be held at Mountain RunningCompany on Friday afternoon and on-site from 7-9:30am on race morning.
This is a 3.250 mile course that is a combination of wide grassy trails, narrow and wide wooded single track, 2 fields, 3 wooden bridge crossings and an occasional dirt road. It is very dynamic and fun course. The path is firm, flat ground in most sections with roots covering much of the wooded single track. Areas of this course are known to get muddy when weather has been wet. Most of the course is flat with soft rolling hills. There are two distinct uphill climbs (dirt road and wide wooded trail) and one distinct downhill. It is identical to last year’s course.
AID STATIONS AND SUPPORT: There are two aid stations. The main aid station is located in tent city next to the starting/finishing line. This is fully stocked with typical ultra food throughout the race and supplemented with real food around mealtimes. We do our best to accomodate dietary preferences, you will find vegan options. The second is a drink station located in the middle of the course – approximately 1.6 miles in. Additionally, the course runs around ‘tent city’- a large beautiful field where there is plenty of room for everyone to camp out right next to the course. This is right next to the start/finish line. So if you want to bring an additional aid station for yourself it is very convenient.
There are several restrooms near tent city. Additionally there will be several port-a-johns on the course.
CAMPING is FREE: If you are interested in camping the field (‘tent city’) will officially be open on Friday, May 27th at 5:00pm for you to set up and even scout out the course.
There will be no transfer of entry fees or refunds given to any new entrants after March 31, 2023. After that time, the Luis Escobar refund policy will be in place. He says it best:
“Finally – please remember that there will be NO refunds – NO transfers – NO exceptions. Do not ask for a refund or a transfer to another date or event – the answer is a polite, no. There will be no refunds even if your cat ate your homework or your dog ate your cat or your grandmother ran over your dog or your grandfather ran over your grandmother or you can’t find a babysitter or your girlfriend is cheating on you or you are cheating on your girlfriend or you get shot in the head during an unfortunate piñata incident, of if you become injured or if you don’t have time to train or if you contract poison oak, syphilis, herpes simplex, chapped lips, the heart break of psoriasis or any other communicable decease or you get bit by a lizard, you have a hangover or you got shot in the neck with a poison dart or your trailer gets destroyed by a tornado or you get deported or your daughter gets married, or any other reason – your registration will not, under any circumstances, no way, no how, ain’t gonna happen, be refunded. Comprende? Don’t like that idea? Don’t register.”
